Vermont Elopement | Zoe + Mason

Zoe & Mason originally had plans for a large wedding, but when they sat down to start planning, they realized that a small, intimate, elopement would suit them much more.

The first time I met Z + M was during their engagement session, which was a very special session because it was also celebrating their baby boy on the way. We got cozy in their new home and spent time chatting about the new chapter they were embarking on.

I was then blessed with the opportunity to meet baby Sulli during their newborn session and got my baby cuddles fix. We then started working together to plan their intimate elopement.

We searched high and low for the perfect Vermont Airbnb and landed on this beautiful spot in the North East Kingdom, Vermont. We worked together to source the decorations and plan out all of the details.

Zoe & Mason had a few hiccups during the week of the elopement but we were able to piece everything together and it turned out perfectly.

Here are some of their thoughts looking back on their day —

What did you love about your elopement location(s)/venue(s)?

I loved that it was secluded, we had complete privacy. Our  family was all in one place but the kids had space to roam. There was such beautiful scenery which made decorating much simpler.

What memory from your elopement do you remember the most strongly? What part of the day had the most effect on you or your relationship?

The part of our elopement I remember most strongly would be taking photos in the woods. It was after our ceremony, and gave us some time to just be around eachother (and Jess of course) away from the chaos a bit. It was a perfect moment of calm in all of the excitement.

I also reminisce on exchanging our vows. A time we looked forward to for so long. Especially having written our own vows, I was amazed by how thoughtful and genuine the moment was. Our families stood there with us as we shared our feelings. Something that I had imagined would feel incredibly awkward was actually a moment full of love and joy. The sun shown down after the clouds split and it felt like a divine experience.

Funniest moment on your elopement day? Tell me all about it!

Oh gosh. I have to say spending so much time, money, and energy on flowers just to forget to grab my bouquet and mason forgot his corsage before we went to the arch. We didn’t realize it till a few hours later but it just goes to show that it isn’t the physical items that matter as much as being in the moment.

What advice would you give to future couples who are getting married?

The marriage and the photos are what last. Invest in that over spending thousands on one night. Be sure to be in the moment. Give someone a detailed list of whatever you’re wanting or needing on your day. Make sure it doesn’t all fall on you.
